About the Institute

The Graduate Institute of Accounting of the National Central University was established in 2010, and has since then became the sole graduate accounting institute among all national universities in the Taoyuan-Hsinchu-Miaoli region. Following an increase in corporate demand for accounting talent with expertise in enterprise resource planning (ERP), the institute established the only in-service master’s program in ERP accounting in Taiwan in 2015. Our students have guaranteed employment opportunities upon graduation and typically work at the Big Four accounting firms. Since the establishment of this institute, numerous students have acquired the certificate of Accountants of Higher Examination, and many in-service master’s program students have also obtained SAP-related licenses, demonstrating outstanding performance and results.

Purpose of Establishment

To nurture students in becoming comprehensive accounting professionals in contemporary economic and business environments, and curriculum design of the institute aims to equip students with the following: a solid professional accounting foundation; expertise and skills in financial technologies, big data analysis, and ERP management systems; and a management philosophy based on sustainable values. In addition to meeting the needs of accounting majors, students’ foreign language competency is strengthened in response to the trend of corporate internationalization and capacities to engage in international exchanges.

Teaching Features

Teaching at this institute is characterized by the following:

1. Specialization 
Our curriculum emphasizes the establishment of theories and cultivation of specialization in basic accounting disciplines such as financial accounting, cost and management accounting, auditing, and the use of accounting information systems.

2. Cross-domain Integration
The focus of the institute’s development lies in incorporating the theories and practices of basic accounting, ERP systems, and finance, and integrating them with international development trends in accounting. In addition to taking accounting courses, students can also study ERP and business intelligence and analysis courses offered by other departments and institutes of the School of Management. The institute is equipped with laboratories to provide a an online learning environment, enabling students to use the ERP system to practice functional decision making and achieve the objective of creating corporate values.

3. Industry–academia collaboration
This institute engages in industry–academia collaboration with the Taiwanese Offices of the Big Four accounting firms, with distinguished CPAs providing lectures focused on accounting practices and case study seminars to cultivate accounting talent.

The aim of the Institute is to train students so they have a solid accounting basis, the professional knowledge and skills of ERP accounting, and also sustainable value management thinking, in order to fulfill the professional accounting personnel that benchmark enterprises desperately need. The Master of Science in Accounting integrates the theory and practice of ERP accounting as to connect with the developmental trend of international accounting’s theory and practice.

Features of the Department
The “Business Model and Value Creation Simulation Lab” and “ERP Accounting Lab” of the institute provide students with virtual reality network learning environment and training courses through ERP accounting module of benchmark enterprises. Jointly developed with the Department of Information Management, “Business Decisions Simulation & Gaming System” provides students with virtual experiences in management knowledge, analytical skills, teamwork spirit and communication, and system thinking. The Institute provides students the ERP accounting education and training. The goal is to increase students’ capacity to meet the challenge in the new economy and increasingly turbulent environment.
